Increase educational rigor by furnishing all sixth and ninth graders with individualized multiyear education plans that spur students to realize their potential.

Increase helpful relationships by providing sustained adult-student advisory connections through adviser-teachers; aim to have each student stay with one adviser-teacher throughout middle school and one through high school.

Increase options and move toward smaller schools and smaller learning environments by developing theme-based high schools and academies within schools, and open enrollment across the school system.

This strategy includes a feasibility study, ongoing professional development, and project proposals for small learning community sites in Knox County.

Maximum Achievement Plans (MAP)

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)
AVID is a structured college preparatory program providing direct support for first-generation college goers, grades 5-12.
